Back to school is here. You want to make sure your children have a balanced breakfast everyday. Keep in mind to provide your child with carbs (preferably complex carbs), protein and a little bit of fat. Think outside of the box when it comes to protein sources. Instead of bacon, eggs, and sausage, think low-fat cheese, low fat cottage cheese, egg whites, nuts, seeds and peanut butter. Some healthy breakfast examples: 2 slices of whole grain toast with peanut butter and a banana; low-fat yogurt with strawberries and slivered almonds; oatmeal with cinnamon, walnuts and blueberries; whole grain tortilla with egg beaters and salsa with a cup of melon. The possibilities are endless!
