Back to the Days......This is the theme of this years Water Festival. It will be held June 12 to 14. I am suggesting that our group rent a booth and take part in the Festival. Other towns around Three Rivers have a festival and an Alumni Event or a Homecoming centered around their yearly festivals. We would need an awning tent and a banner and volunteers to set up and take down the necessary items in our booth. Booth rental is $50.00 for a 12 x 12 space for Friday and Saturday. The shelters on the peninsula leading to the lighthouse are kept open so that others can sit and talk. I think we could ask for a space in this area so that those that want to could also use the shelters. If this were to become a yearly event on our part, those living away from Three Rivers could always keep mid June open when they are planning a trip back. Ive seen towns where many families plan their own reunions around their festivals. Tents are put up in back yards for this event. People could also buy sandwiches from the Ox Roast and take them to their family potlucks. Our high school graduation class held a reunion on the front lawn of the old hospital on a Saturday afternoon after the lunch crowd had dispensed. We put four tables together and sat there the rest of the afternoon and enjoyed the food from the Lions Club and the pie social. Ive found that people are very generous if there is a donation jar. I can envision a designed T-shirt with the name of our group and the lighthouse and the three rivers as the motiff. They could be sold at our booth. Also if the library still has copies of the Early Days book, they too, could be available. Some of our posts and photos from our group could be printed out and others could look at them. Are there members in this group that would volunteer to pick up an oar and row with this?
