Back when I first bought the elliptical, 3 minutes once a day nearly killed me (yeah, I was that out of shape!). I kept at it (although I was sick for 3 weeks Dec/Jan, which pushed me back a little)...soon it was 5 minutes, then 5 minutes twice a day...then one 5 and one ten....then, once, a 15-minute session! (That was before I got sick and essentially started over). It came back pretty quickly after being sick, though, and this morning, I made my goal for the first time: 20 minutes. Broke a sweat, sustained elevated heart rate, all that healthy stuff. Feeling pretty rubbery-legged, but the progress is highly motivational. Ultimately, I want to get up to 20-40 minutes daily, and when I secure a vehicle (this spring?) Ill be heading back to the gym for the real stuff. 14 years ago, I was in the best shape of my life—sprinting 2 miles daily, 2-3 hours in the gym 4 days a week. Last summer, I was 25-30 lbs. overweight and really out of shape. I was appalled with myself, the drastic decline. Ive since dropped nearly 20 lbs (went wheat-free) and feel I have another 15 or so to go, which the elliptical should help burn, along with walking/jogging soon as it warms up a little outside. I wanna get back there.
