Bacteria..................So what exactly happens when our saliva contacts food?Say if I`m eating beef stroganoff, spag carbonara or tom yum soup and not every spoonful is completely being consumed - I`m chewing or slurping and the occasional bits are falling back into the bowl.It begs the question similar to the 3sec rule when you drop a prepped piece of food on the floor ~ Is the bacteria multiplying as soon as it lands in the bowl?Is it adjusting, evolving tolerances to adjust to its new environment? Is it selective and targeting all the best ingredients in the meal or going the whole hog?..lol..Bacteria has massive tolerances in terms of habitat conditions(they find it in deep ice cores millions of yrs old and in deep oceans near toxic bubbling vents and its a wonder they havent found it in the stratosphere or will find it near the earths iron core). And No doubt will probably be the 1st form of life existing they find in deep space(Ideally opposed to something more frightening or maybe not so ideally depending on its specific threat to human beings)...We are`nt komodo dragons so its not really harmful bacteria on that scale but its bacteria none the less.If I was the only one eating the spag-carb or tom yum soup it would probably be more related to how birds feed there young but I`m not regurgitating it.(It would have to have entered the stomach 1st before being coughed back up I would have thought). In some cultures they have many people chewing plant material to break it down-spitting it out so it can be all combined before the whole family can create a drink from the "chewed cud"..Imagine whats going on there besides breaking down the enzymes!!.(On 2nd thought,No dont..lol).There has never been a death from consuming food thats been partially digested or community digested that I am aware of.So can bacteria enhance a foods criteria~taste-yes,texture-yes,nutrition-again possible depending upon the bacteria but the bad bacteria im not so sure as its probably expelled through the other end(while on the subject-makes me laugh that scientists have studied it and come to the conclusion that your other end is cleaner than your mouth..so for future reference try and ban or discourage your partner from putting there tongue in your mouth and dont compensate by smooching their other end...lol...(discusting peoples!!)..brush before you smooch anything..ok!.Also the cheese that has the taste of a squashed ants smell-such as stilton(blue cheese)Im not a big fan of obviously. And pressedmeat such as salami was aged & flyblown as my mom described it many yrs ago when our step families italian side would make there own & she said it tasted amazing?.(maggots have proving essential in managing festering wounds as they only consume dead flesh and are used today in some hospitals so give them respect!).Bacteria isnt as bad as us non scientists think, its a necessity to strengthen our immune systems so plays a pivotal, vital role. Its others bacteria that is a concern depending upon what they have been doing or have come in contact with. The next time you spit on the ground or in your bowl, consider the nasty, miniscule, constantly recruiting war mongering nation you have unleashed!..........Nonsense time:What if evolution was fastforwarded 1.5million years in a matter of minutes.Would that bacteria in my bowl be able to spit crap at me?
