Badal duo’s feeble and insincere attempts to raise “Panthic” - TopicsExpress

Badal duo’s feeble and insincere attempts to raise “Panthic” issues, nothing but gross double standards like “running with the hare and hunting with the hound” :- Khaira The recent half hearted, feeble and insincere attempts being made by the Badal duo and their cronies, to raise “Panthic” issues, with the aim to revive the shattered image of Shiromani Akali Dal, nothing but shameless double standards of “running with the hare and hunting with the hound”. As we are aware, Mr. Badal recently wrote a letter to Mr. Modi PM reiterating his demand to transfer Chandigarh to Punjab. Thereafter, Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa shot off a letter to the Defense Minister of India couple of days back, demanding withdrawal of gallantry awards presented to defense personnel involved in Operation Blue Star in 1984. And yesterday the junior Badal has written to Rajnath Singh Home Minister, urging him to release 100 Sikh prisoners languishing in different jails across the country, despite completion of their sentences. The Badals and their sycophants may have completed formalities by writing letters to raise Sikh issues with the government of India, but their actions back home in Punjab and on the ground are diametrically opposed to the ‘Panthic’ and Sikh agenda, that they are trying to rake up. A careful analysis of Sukhbir Badal’s latest demand to release 100 Sikh prisoners from jails in India, falls flat keeping in view the shocking pre mature release of Gurmit Singh Pinky, a former militant turned police cat turned police officer, sentenced to life for killing an innocent Ludhiana youth without provocation. Was it DGP Sumedh Saini’s pressure on the junior Badal also the Home Minister to pre maturely release Pinky, a known right hand man of the DGP? While the Badal duo have defended the illegitimate release of Pinky, they have deliberately not allowed Gurbaksh Singh a former militant, to undertake fast in Punjab seeking release of Sikh prisoners, forcing him to shift to a Haryana Gurudwara. It is also a matter of record, that Mr. Badal and SAD had in 1997 back tracked on yet another ‘Panthic’ issue, promising to order a probe by a sitting Judge of the High Court to fix responsibility and to punish police officials responsible for repression and elimination of Sikh youths in fake encounters, during the turbulent period of militancy in Punjab. The said promise was a part of the SAD election manifesto of 1997. Mr. Badal also back tracked from making public the inquiry report into the fake encounter killing of Gurdev Singh Kaunke, Jathedar of Akal Takhat, during his tenure of 1997-2002. In so far the demand of withdrawal of gallantry awards to defense personnel made by Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa, it is alarmingly surprising and shocking why he made this demand 30 years after Operation Blue Star and why did he not raise it when he remained a Cabinet Minister in the Vajpayee government for a full term? Similarly, what right has Mr. Badal got to rake up the demand of transfer of Chandigarh, after running from pillar to post with a begging bowl seeking votes for the Chautala’s in Haryana, who oppose this demand tooth and nail. Will Mr. Badal promise to convince his family friends Chautala’s, to shun the demand of Chandigarh for Haryana? Lastly but most importantly, would the Badal duo clarify why they have honoured known anti Sikh police officers with plum official and political positions? While Sumedh Saini responsible for the abduction and disappearance of three innocent persons of Ludhiana and accused of eliminating father and uncle of Prof. Davinderpal Singh Bhullar, has been promoted out of turn as DGP, another known anti Sikh officer known for the infamous “Alam Sena” Mr. Izhar Alam has been rewarded with a MLA post for his wife. Therefore, I am of the firm opinion that both the Badals and the Akali Dal after having received a sound drubbing in the Lok Sabha polls and an unsure alliance partner like BJP that considers them a liability, is frantically looking to once again whip up Sikh sentiments for cheap political gains. I dare them to first make their position clear on the above said anti Sikh agenda persued by them for the last 17 years, before re embarking on the so called ‘Panthic’ agenda, to which the Sikhs are warned not to fall prey.
