Bajwa flays Badal for the rise of political crime in the state Chandigarh, December 16: The Punjab Congress President Mr Partap Singh Bajwa today strongly condemned the rising criminal incidents involving ruling politicians in the and demanded registration of a criminal case against former minister and Akali Dal leader Mr Sucha Singh Langah for abusing Gurdaspur District Development and Panchayat Officer Mr Jagwinderjit Singh Sandhu. He said the unbridled powers given to the Akali Dal jathedars by the Chief Minister Mr Parkash Singh Badal amounted to aiding and abetting such political goondaism. He said it was a very serious matter which led to lightning strike by the officials of the Panchayat department in the entire district. The PPCC chief said the case should be registered against Mr langah on the basis of the complaint lodged by Mr Sandhu to the Panchayats Minister Mr Sikander Singh Maluka. He alleged this was one of the most glaring examples of the way the Akali jathedars were out to loot the resources of the state, in this case the panchayat lands. Mr Bajwa also strongly condemned the repeated attacks on the Amritsar advocate, Mr Vaneet Mahajan, who had filed a case against the Local Bodies Minister from the BJP, Mr Anil Joshi, of double vote. He said these cases amounted to political goondaism which had been proliferating under the Badal regime. It was shocking that the car of Mr Mahajan was fired at in Amritsar. Moreover, this was not the first case of harassment of the whistle-blower. He said the situation had deteriorated to such an extent that a woman Akali sarpanch went to the extent of slapping in public a dalit leader from her own party in Muktsar, the home district of Mr Badal. Mr Bajwa felt now these leaders had become too bold while resorting to criminal tactics to loot the state and repress ordinary people. He said with the crimes being committed by the political class or aided and abetted by the political leaders going unpunished, the general law and order situation was deteriorating every day. This government had no right to be in power even for a day. He said the c ontinuation of the Badal government would result in irreparable damage to the state at every level. Mr Bajwa said “This is an acid test of Badal to prove whether he is the Chief Minister of the State or patriarch of a political class. Badal had taken oath on the Constitution of India 5 times and he is expected to uphold the sanctity and prestige of the high constitutional post. People are today watching the actions of S. Badal with a microscope”. Badal will go down in the history of Punjab as a CM who failed on all fronts he said.
