Baked Pears with Chocolate Sauce and Pomegranate Seeds This quintessential Christmas dessert features seasonal fruits like pears and pomegranate seeds, which are at their peak during the fall and wintertime. The recipe is super easy to make — and the warm chocolate sauce transforms it into a really decadent after-dinner treat. Ingredients • 4 medium pear, Anjou peeled, halved lengthwise, and cored • 1 pinch cinnamon, ground • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil spread, butter-flavored cut into 8 pieces • 1/2 cup(s) chocolate chips, bittersweet • 7 teaspoon half-and-half, fat-free • 1/2 cup(s) pomegranate seeds Instructions • 1 -Heat oven to 350°F. Sprinkle pears with cinnamon and place, cut side up, in a baking dish. Place 1 piece of vegetable oil spread in the core cavity of each pear. Add 1/3 cup of water to dish and bake pears until tender, about 1 hour, basting with water once halfway through. Remove from oven and cool slightly. • 2 -Slice each pear lengthwise into thin slices and fan out on dessert plates. Heat chocolate and half-and-half in a small saucepan over medium-low heat, stirring constantly, until melted and well combined, 1 to 2 minutes. Using a large spoon, drizzle chocolate sauce decoratively over pear slices. Sprinkle with pomegranate seeds and serve. • Calories 120 • Total Fat 4g • Saturated Fat 2g • Sodium 20mg • Carbohydrates 24g • Dietary Fiber 3g • Protein 1g
