Bakshi gave medical seats to Abdullahs, helped them pass MBBS: Congress party SYED YASIR Some Congress leaders today asked National Conference (NC) leader Dr Mustafa Kamal to stop demonising former prime minister Bakshi Ghulam Mohammad since the latter had showered favours on his family. “It was Bakshi Sahib who gave Kamal MBBS seat. It was Bakshi Sahib, who gave a MBBS seat to Dr Farooq Abdullah in Jaipur. It was Bakshi sahib, who asked the principal of his (Farooq’s) medical college to pass Dr Farooq, after he failed in seven consecutive attempts in MBBS,” said state Congress secretary Mohammad Sultan Mandoo and other partymen while addressing a press conference here. They had convened the press conference to react to the recent statement of Dr Kamal in which he had allegedly made some adverse remarks against Bakshi and described Congress men as a “group of beggars” created by him. The Congress men asked chief minister Omar Abdullah, National Conference president Dr Farooq Abdullah to make Kamal silent Dr Mustafa Kamal otherwise Congress party will open paradox box, which will expose all failures of Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah and the entire Sheikh family. “Dr Mustafa Kamal is an insane person. It has become his habit to talk about Congress party and against Congress leadership. Without knowing the history of Jammu and Kashmir, he is leveling baseless allegations against Congress party. Bakshi sahib had not created beggars as claimed by Mustafa Kamal. It was Sheikh Abdullah who encouraged hooligans for his own political survival,” he said. The Congress state secretary said that instead of remaining thankful to Bakshi, Kamal is leveling baseless against charges him and his party. “The Congress party is not a party of beggers. We are respected persons of the society. If Mustafa Kamal will not remain silent, we will start a counter offensive against him, his family and National Conference,” he said. The Congress leaders also suggested Kamal to go for mental check up so that he will maintain his mental balance. “Dr Kamal has lost his mental balance. He is raising such issues that never happened in the history of Kashmir. If he will not remain silent,” he said. The Congress leaders said that Bakshi Ghulam Mohammad, Sheikh Abdullah and others formed a volunteers’ army to protect life and property of people from foreign offenders. “If Kamal is calling the volunteers as an Army of beggars, he is himself abusing his father Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah,” he said. The Congress leaders said that people of the state still remember the golden period of Bakshi . Mandoo said that it was National Conference leadership who exiled number of Kashmiris on baseless charges of spying. “Bakshi sahib always opposed the exiling of Kashmiris by Sheikh Abdullah. It is National Conference which is responsible for the present bloodshed,” the Congress leaders said.
