Balaji Rajan, Skills Assessor of Network runs Port Talbot Air Cadets (499 Squadron), a uniformed youth organisation which helps to develop youngsters aged 12-19 into better citizens. As part of our commemoration of the Great War, 499 Squadron will be undertaking a static bike ride of 480 miles from Port Talbot to Liège in Belgium to raise funds for the Royal British Legion and the Squadron. The historical significance is that Great Britain declared war on Germany on August 4th1914 and the first battle of WW1 took place at Liège, Belgium on August 4th 1914. The Air Cadets will be using 2 static bikes and aim to ride a combined distance of 160 miles per day over 3 days at the Aberafan Shopping Centre, Port Talbot.
