Bamburi Cement Limited unveiled a Ksh 20 million sponsorship package for the 2014 Bamburi Rugby Super Series. This years tournament will be contested by six teams. Kenya has four franchises namely defending champions Ndovu, Papa, Kifaru and Papa. Kifaru is the universities franchise previously known as Kengewa and Sharks in previous editions while Chui is the franchise that previously played as Nyumbu in last years tournament. Uganda has two franchises namely Rwenzori and Victoria. The tournament will take place from 26 April to 7 June across five towns and cities in Uganda and Kenya. This rugby competition is the most critical in accelerating the development of Elite XVs rugby in our country. It will also assist in identifying a strong squad of players to form a regular Kenya ‘A’ team that will be a feeder to the Kenya national team. Bamburi gave Ksh 15 million in cash and Ksh 5 million in kind and this is geared towards making the tournament event better Another innovation for the 2014 tournament is the Supa Sato concept that sees all match days take place at a single venue. Kampala will play host to all teams on match day one, Kakamega hosting match day two, Nakuru hosting match day three, Machakos hosting the semi finals with Nairobis RFUEA Grounds hosting the final which will serve as a curtain raiser to the Kenya - Western Provice international friendly which takes place on June 7.
