Many of us might not know it but more and more countries are eating dog meat. For some people this seems barbaric and inhumane but for others is a normal fact. Dog meat trade is normally heard of in Asia but its even more prominent in Africa. The dog meat trade in Africa is also known as bush meat and in this category are included wild dogs, cheetahs, hyenas, leopards and domestic dogs which are also consumed along with primates. It is sad to see that innocent animals are being kept in inhumane conditions, Staked in small cages with no water or food for days. Tortured and beaten until they die and then like this isnt enough, butchered and cooked just to end up in someones stomach. Not many people know of this trade as very few individuals venture in the African countries. Dog meat in this areas has gone to a price where it costs twice as much as goat meat. A salesman declared that when he started he slaughtered a dog each day but now he has to process about five a day. In certain places people have to queue to buy cooked dog meat and some say they cant live for a week without consuming dog meat. It is said that a dog is a mans best friend but it seems that in some countries the dog is their best meat.
