Bandi Mukti Committee members, back in Siliguri after touring - TopicsExpress

Bandi Mukti Committee members, back in Siliguri after touring Darjeeling and Kalimpong, have strongly objected to the manner in which the state government is unlawfully arresting political workers in order to suppress the movement for a separate state. BMC district committee chairman Ajit Roy said an accused is supposed to be kept within the district he or she belongs to, but the state government has imprisoned several people from the hills in Jalpaiguri. Moreover, they are being denied permission to meet family members. Speaking at the Siliguri Journalists’ Club today, BMC state secretary Choton Das said committee members would stage agitations outside the residences of the district magistrates of the region from September 27 demanding the release of the arrested people. He also demanded the withdrawal of the CRPF from the Darjeeling hills and Jungle Mahal region.
