Bangor fire update Friday morning 24 January Active fire continues within control lines as there are many non-burnt areas. Heavy machinery continues cleaning up additional control lines. Overnight there was an outbreak to the south across Bains Track but firefighters managed to hold it. Light rain overnight is assisting crews to maintain control over the fire edge in the eastern area of the fire and farm fire units are maintaining the area from Survey Rd to Wirrabara. The rain has created some safety issues for crews in the north-western corner of the fireground, so crews have been moved off the steeper ground. Work is continuing to clear dangerous trees from Germein Gorge Rd. Crews are monitoring the progress of the fire along the control line at the pipeline. Mopping up is complete in the south-west area of the fire around the area that spotted over south of Bains Track.
