Bank Robber Fails Thursday, May 22, 2014 On Thursday, May 22, 2014, at 4:17 p.m., the Lee County Sheriffs Office Communications Center received a call about a bank robbery. The incident occurred at the Wells Fargo located at 5500 Bayshore Road, North Fort Myers, Florida. Deputies responded to the scene. A perimeter was established with patrol units as preliminary details were provided by witnesses. Both K9 and Aviation Units with the Sheriffs Office arrived on scene to help in the search of a white male suspect who had entered the bank and passed a note to a teller. The note implied an explosive device had been placed in the bank and demanded cash. The victim told the robber they needed to get the money from the back. Moments later the suspect exited the bank without any cash and was reportedly seen either on foot or bicycle heading to the east toward a nearby shopping plaza. The suspect was not located, but is described as in his mid-thirties, approximately 59 tall and a slender build. He may have been wearing a blonde wig. He also had a light-colored ball camouflage ball cap, with t-shirt, pants and white shoes. Photos are posted on our Facebook page as Wells Fargo Robber. Anyone who may know the suspect or has additional information is asked to contact the Lee County Sheriffs Office at 477-1000 or, to remain anonymous and be eligible for a reward, Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS(8477). Tips may also be made online at swflcrimestoppers.org; via text to CRIMES (274637) Keyword: REWARD; or through the TipSubmit app on any Smart phone. ### lk/204359
