Banker is JLPs choice for Central Westmoreland Wednesday, October 08, 2014 | 3:57 PM Banker/financier Faye Jacobs is to be the Jamaica Labour Partys (JLP) candidate for the expected by-election in Central Westmoreland. Jacobs,an associate of the chartered institute of bankers, has some 25 years experience at the senior executive level in banking, both inside and outside Jamaica. JLP general secretary, Dr. Horace Chang, told the Observer today that Jacobs, who has been the partys caretaker in the constituency for several months now, will be the candidate. Dr. Chang dismissed suggestions that the JLP may not contest the by-election, as the memory of the former MP, the popular Roger Clarke, is likely to influence a strong turn out for the ruling Peoples National Party (PNP). We will be contesting the by-election whenever it is called and Ms Jacobs is our candidate in the constituency, Chang said. The PNP leadership earlier this week announced that attorney-at-law Michael Erskine, will represent the party in the election. Clarke, the former Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries, died from a heart attack in September. Balford Henry
