Banning of Tokunbo Cars! Matter Arising!! Their is fire on the mountain with the new Automotive policy as hope of millions of young Nigerians hope of owning affordable vehicles of their choice will be dashed with the implementation of the new policy. In Nigeria of today, how many people could afford such exorbitant price that goes with new cars when the per capital income of Nigerian citizens is one of the lowest in the world. Nigeria is yet to advance economically and socially with the prevalent high level of employment and poverty ravaging the country. I hope this policy is not meant to separate the wheat from the chaff whereby ownership of cars will become luxury for the rich while it goes out of reach of the poor!! The danger ahead is that robbery, kidnapping, corruption, insecurity and other social vices will be on the rise as a result of desperation to belong to elite car owners!! Lastly, the policy is only to favour our big men and their foreign collaborators as only an exclusive group of super rich will be importing cars and distribute same thereby throwing the small players in auto sales out of business!!!
