Barbara J. VanEpps July 15, 2014 BELLEVILLE, N.Y. — Barbara June VanEpps, 82, of Enon, Va., passed away June 3, 2014. Born Aug. 17, 1931, in Belleville, the daughter of Allen and Doris Brown, she was raised in Jefferson County, New York and graduated from Central Academy in Belleville where she played basketball and was a cheerleader/ majorette. She met Paul VanEpps of Woodville and was married in Belleville on Aug. 25, 1951. They started their adventure as a couple in France, and resided in Illinois, Texas, Florida, New York and finally resided in Virginia in 1968. Barbara was active member of the Bermuda Hundred United Methodist Church, and was one of the original teachers at the Bermuda Hundred Preschool. She had a great sense of humor and enjoyed being around children. She enjoyed camping and traveling and walks in the neighborhood. She also enjoyed having visits from family and friends as their home became a destination point for travelers. Barbara was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Paul, in 2011 and her sisters, Marcia Clark and Carolyn MacVean. Surviving are a brother, Howard Brown, Belleville; a sister, Lora Rohde, Cranberry Lake; five children, Robert A. VanEpps and wife, Jenny, Panama City, Fla., Richard P VanEpps and wife, Cathy, Wanyesboro, Va., Sheron J Denoff, Chesterfield, Va., Roger J VanEpps and wife, Danette, Omaha, Neb., and Randal B VanEpps and wife, Susan, Leesburg, Va.; 12 grandchildren, Carol (Andy), Christopher, Matthew, Eric (Emily) Laura, Paul (Blair), Phillip (Elena), David (Mandy), Scott, Amanda, Byron, and Caroline; two great-grandchildren; Edward, Virginia. A memorial service is being held 1:30 p.m. Sunday, July 20, in Woodside Cemetery in Belleville. A reception to follow at the Belleville Fire Hall. Condolences may be made at carpenterstoodley.
