Barbarapalooza Teaser (this one is more for my realtors participants): Photo of a home inspector celebrating no longer having to be licensed while a home buyer cries over losing their consumer protection. During the 2013 Legislative Session, KAR was successful in passing legislation to permanently extend the state’s common-sense and reasonable regulations on home inspectors operating in Kansas. Among other things, these regulations required home inspectors to submit proof of experience prior to licensure, complete annual continuing education requirements and be financially responsible for errors that harmed home buyers. Unfortunately, Kansas Governor Sam Brownback vetoed this legislation, thus ending these sensible regulations. As a result, home inspectors will no longer be licensed by the state on July 1, 2013 and home buyers will be stripped of these important consumer protections.
