Bare Faced Liar Ok. I love games, so Ill post a pic of myself sans make up... But heres the thing; I dont think this is a very good cancer awareness campaign. I know thats how it started off, but I dont agree that this is the best way to combat cancer. Read more here guardianlv/2014/03/facebook-sees-increase-in-no-makeup-selfies-to-raise-cancer-awareness/ If I just posted a pic of myself without make up Id be a bare faced liar because Im not donating to any cancer foundation. I want to make it known that there are awesome ways to PREVENT cancer in the first place (instead of donating money to huge foundations that dont seem to be curing cancer). I want to stress that Im not victim blaming and Im truly sorry for the victims of cancer and their families who suffer through the terror of this disease with their loved ones. I do believe, however, as a society we encourage the growth of cancer. We eat tons of food products and not enough real food. We consume more than we produce. We eat inappropriate foods. We work high stress jobs and forget how to play. We entertain ourselves with tripe and garbage on TV. We harbour jealousy, resentment and anger. We compare ourselves to unattainable standards. We dont get to know our neighbors. We lack community. We use products on our bodies and in our homes that contain high toxins. WE NEED MORE OUTDOOR EXERCISE. As a culture we are inviting cancer to hang out with us. To discourage the high rates of cancer, I doubt one could argue, there are some things we could all do. We could eat seasonal and local foods (as much as possible) We could eat more home cooked meals We could avoid processed, fried and fast foods. We could stop using products with toxic chemicals to clean our homes We could stop using personal care products with toxic ingredients We could build community and get to know our neighbors better We could practice spirituality and forgive more We could learn to play again. Take some time off work. We could exercise regularly (see note about play) We could consume less We could stop holding ourselves to unattainable standards So heres my challenge to raise awareness about cancer prevention! I challenge YOU to go ONE day without eating any processed foods. Keep track of what you eat for one day and post it to Facebook. Ill post my diet diary tomorrow night. To keep the spirit going Im going to nominate 3 people who I know can take this challenge and kick its ass. I nominate Mia Robinson, Aubrielle Wall and Cristina Jean.
