Barrie Police Service’s first Junior Constables graduated today! What a successful week. The Jr. Constables met new friends, learned new schools and hopefully will be a part of our team in the future! Congratulations! ****************** Today is the first week of the Junior Constable Camp that will be running for the summer! The Barrie Police Community Services Unit has teamed up with the County of Simcoe District School Board to put on the Junior Constable Camp. Teachers from schools across the city have nominated students to take part in this once in a lifetime camp. The students were selected based on the idea that they would otherwise not have had the opportunity to attend a summer camp this year. The students will be with the Barrie Police Monday to Friday, 8am to 4pm. Their days will resemble some of the things a police officer is engaged in such as: • Forensic Identification • Interviewing • Drill/Marching • Physical fitness with the Training Unit • Marine patrols and much more! Finally, the week ends with a trip to Ripleys Aquarium in Toronto and a graduation ceremony! This morning the students took their Oath of Secrecy with Chief Greenwood. The Junior Constable Camp is the result of funding, $10,000.00, through a Provinical P.A.V.I.S grant. Barrie Police will soon have some new junior constables as part of our team! Good luck and have fun!
