Barry’s Diary - September 2014 03.09.2014 Hi Everybody Time to catch up on the diary again! During the past month, Ive had my first two combined treatments of Avastin and chemotherapy and I will have the third one in a week or so. At the moment Im managing the treatment very well and actually feel quite well in myself – So long may it continue! I want to take this opportunity of thanking my Oncologist Dr Lucy Brazil for her support, encouragement and medical advice throughout my treatment. As ever Ive set myself a little project. Having already written a few books, I thought it would be a good idea to write about my experience with cancer from a personal point of view (not a medical point of view), so Ive begun this and will try to continue to progress with it in the coming months. Im really pleased to say that my two sons Simon and Jon will be following up my usual roles as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Albins, allowing me a calmer role as Chairman and I can only wish them the very best of luck working beside me in those roles. Although Ill be alongside my sons please God, I know just how capable they are which is wonderful and I can only say how much I look forward to working with them in a slightly different role. Health permitting I will still be coming in most days and look forward to seeing you all either around the premises or on the occasional funeral, so please dont hesitate to say hello and have a chat – Bermondsey and all of you mean the world to me. You will be pleased to hear that the much loved Rolls hearse is back after having extensive work done and it should be back in action in the next few weeks. Can you believe that the Memorial Service is now not that far away (Wednesday 3rd December at 7pm) and as ever we are all looking forward to joining you for an evening of remembrance, thought, prayer and music along with our normal military tribute. Ill be there as always to welcome everyone and Simon, Jon and Greg will lead the service along with all the usual staff and friends. I sincerely hope you will be with us. You know how important you are to that evening and it would not be the same without you all. Thank you to everyone for the good wishes, support and loyalty you always give to Albins and especially to me personally. Last of all can I just remind you that Albins have been nominated for a Blue Plaque and we desperately need your votes. Please send them to us or e-mail us at [email protected] Alternatively you can e-mail the Southwark News at [email protected] Every vote counts! God bless you all until next time. Barry
