Based on representation made by Chairperson of the National Toshaos Council (NTC) Yvonne Pearson during the ongoing NTC meeting, President Bharrat Jagdeo today approved an allowance of $50,000. for the Toshaos to cover additional expenses that they may have incurred during their five-day stay in Georgetown. This amount reflects an increase of $30,000. on the previous $20,000. that they received over the years. With regards to the acceleration of the land demarcation process in Amerindian communities, the President stated that tenders will soon be placed for the surveyors to facilitate this process However, the Head of State cited a shortage of surveyors in the country as one of the challenges to the process but he is optimistic that this will be overcome. The NTC meeting concludes tomorrow.
