Basin Electric Surveyor Wanted... Position Title: Surveyor Department/Location: Generation / HDQ – Bismarck, ND Position Purpose/Job Function: This position performs surveying and activities as needed for Basin Electric and its subsidiaries. Necessary Qualifications: Must have a working knowledge of all types of surveying, including knowledge of various land development, survey retracement, legal description, and cadastral laws. This includes understanding rules of evidence and their application to property ownership problems including interpretation of evidence, resolution of inconclusive or conflicting evidence, and writing of property descriptions and survey recommendations. The incumbent must be capable of operating conventional, total station equipment, global positioning systems and interface the field surveying function with computerized analysis and/or drafting of survey data. This is acquired through completion of a two-year degree in civil engineering technology and land surveying, or two years of related experience in land surveying. The incumbent must be qualified to become registered as a North Dakota Land Surveyor in Training. The incumbent must be knowledgeable of and adhere to the applicable governmental regulations and requirements and must adhere to all state laws concerning land surveys for the development of properties. A valid ND driver’s license and frequent overnight travel are required. Typical Physical/Mental/Environmental Demands: Requires frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, climbing, kneeling, reaching, lifting up to 50 pounds, using keyboard/computer and using foot controls; and occasional crawling, and pushing/pulling up to 50 pounds. This position requires finger dexterity, good color vision, hearing, and ability to perform close work. The incumbent must be able to analyze data and reports; supervise others; implement recommendations; develop plans, procedures and goals; present information to others; and work under stress or pressure to complete projects. Occasionally works in conditions of dirt and dust, fumes, extreme heat and cold, vibration, noise, and poor ventilation. This position must operate equipment and vehicles; and occasionally works around chemicals, electrical risks, in confined areas, and at heights up to 600 feet.
