Battle Prep (1st revision) Started with a Buddha face I Found - TopicsExpress

Battle Prep (1st revision) Started with a Buddha face I Found beneath my Bible; Added Marley dreads that were tucked Beneath the oaken stock of my old AK-47, Then, slid into a Johnny Cash-black shirt With pearl buttons that I found beneath A pile of Native American bones and artifacts. Put on some Chomsky glasses; Had to make the lenses a bit thinner to see clearly; And I saw, with my new blurred vision, a pair Of Bob Dylan blue jeans hanging next to the corpse Of revolution in the back of my closet, And, a pair of Ma Theresa’s sandals, Worn to nearly nothing, Hiding behind my combat boots. Finally, I found two old tomes, bathed in tears, Underneath all of the crap-celebrity rags in my bathroom: One by Lao Tzu; the other by Sun Tzu; I wonder if they were related. Then I picked up that old Bible: Realized that I’d been reading with someone Else’s eyes all of this time. My unboxed Jesus shed his war-gear and hatred As I had. We became closer friends instantly. At the end of my preparations, I decided that I know nothing, Need less, And hate no one. Now, I am picking up my Tom Jefferson pen and Greg Graffin guitar, To do battle with my former And, perhaps, future selves. I can’t be held responsible for any bystanders That may be healed during the onslaught.
