Be Careful What You Say Proverbs 18:21 – KJV Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof. Point 1 – Don’t speak death over the things that should be alive in your life, but speak the promises of God. When God is doing the miraculous in our lives, we often kill with our unbelief. 2 Corinthian 5:7 tells us to walk by faith and not by sight, but we often speak what we see and not what we should be believing God to do on our behalf. Point 2 – Don’t speak life to the things you keep asking God to remove out of your life. We all struggle with our sinful nature and we ask God wash our sins away so we can walk clean in His sight, but we go back and proclaim that same sin God just cleaned us up from has dominion over us. We should proclaim to all that we are new creatures in Christ and walk boldly in our new life leases. Point 3 – Just because there is a moment of silence does not mean you need to fill it with needless chatter. James 1:19 tells us to be swift to hear and slow to speak and Psalms 119:105 says that the Word of God is a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our paths. We want to walk in the path that God has for our lives, which means we needs navigation to know where we are going and how to get there. We can’t hear what God is trying to say to us if we are always talking and He is not going to try to talk over us. Let us be good stewards of our words!
