Be Cautious Hoosiers! Indiana legislators maybe saying ‘NO’ to Common Core State Standards© Copyright 2010, make sure it is real and not a back door deal! How many of you are aware that CCSS© is copy written? The National Governors Association (NGA) and the Chief Council of State Schools Officers (CCSSO) are the owners. Both of these organizations are private organizations meaning they are allowed to receive monies and make decisions behind closed doors without the knowledge of the public. If you were to go to the CCSS© Public License you would discover that at any time NGA and CCSSO could change the name, wording or even put a halt without your knowledge or permission as a parent, voter and/or taxpayer. If you were to investigate a little further you would find out that Alaska stated it was not going to be using CCSS© but their own, Alaska State Standards. Ask me how much different is Alaska’s State Standards to CCSS©, close enough they will be using the same exact test: Smarter Balance Assessment.
