Be Informed (Series Contd) It is election season in Nigeria. This brings a type of festivity to the populace. It is evident in the private hush-hush of some persons, in the workplace open discussions (including the market place and the various relaxation spots), sometimes in coded and plain forms at the places of worship. The news and social media are also not left out. However, there is some worrisome concern about certain communication and expressions, particularly in the social media. We have persons, belonging to various political divides, coming on to the social media platforms to express some views in favour of a political figure or party. Some comments and expressions leave much to be desired. Such expressions and views stench to the high heavens and are unbecoming of the authors or the presenters or both (as the case may be). Now the bad thing is not expressing yourself on social media. Neither is being paid for by a political figure or representatives to write good things about them on social media. At least it has a merit that it provides an income for the person making the expression on social media. The bad thing is the wanton stench being spewed out on the social media on the person of political figures, particularly the two elder state-man gentlemen, in the person of Goodluck Jonathan (current President) and Mohammad Buhari (Ex-Military Head Of State). It is pertinent to note that these gentlemen meet and sit at the Council of State (Browse to en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Council_of_State and en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Council_of_State_(Nigeria) for information on composition and duties of the Nigerian Council of State). Thus, there is no need casting aspersion on the person of these 2 eminent gentlemen. Rather, if you are seeking for answers for their stewardship and role on topical issues bordering on statehood, seat them together and let them answer for Security (and other) issues as individuals and collectively. To continue on a smear campaign on either of them will amount to the presenter being viewed as a mugu and uninformed by the Internet audience. Now that the above is aired, let the Game of Thrones begin...!!!
