Be Pride! International workcamp to support the National Italian Pride 2013. Associazione InformaGiovani is looking for volunteers for the workcamp that will take place in Palermo, Sicily from the 12th till the 24th of June su support the National GAY-LGBT Pride We are looking for 8 volunteers in total. Project description: As Every year in Italy and all over the world, the LGBT movement organize the "Pride Day". This year in Italy, the National Pride will take place in Palermo, Sicily on the 22nd of June. The traditional parade which will involve about 100.000 people, will be organized in the frame of the "Pride Village week", lasting from the 14of June. The whole event is organized by a wide national Network of NGOs and by the City administration of Palermo. During the week, lots of cultural, social, political and awareness raising events will take place in the city and in the "Village", hosted by the "Cultural Yards". A video of the Parade 2012 is available at youtu.be/3oE1hzyjtSI The event, has gathered already many participations and collborations from schools, cultural associations, firms, Universities International volunteers will support the event linking local with international perspective, providing international volunteers the possibility to join such an imprtant event and to interact direclty with the people involved. Even though the main event, which is the street parade will thake place on the 22nd of June, many conferences, thematic workshop, gatherings, movies, will take place in order to raise awareness about LGBT rights. Work: Volunteers will support the organization concerning logistical aspects and will also have the possibility to join workshop and cultural events including the street parade. Accomodation and food: Volunteers will be hosted in a hostel where breakfast and dinner are provided. Packed lunch will be provided during their day at the venues of the event. Location & leisure: Palermo is one of the main cities in Sicily, capital of the region. It is possible to visit some of the main monuments of the city in the free time or go to the beach o visit the outskirts. Requirements: a basic knowledge of Italian is required.
