A message from Moulton Avery My personal hope is that every paddler who understands the danger of cold water will act as an Ambassador for cold water safety. There are many thousands of paddlers who have absolutely no idea how dangerous an unprotected immersion can be, and each year brings with it a new series of tragic incidents and harrowing close calls. To be a good ambassador, all you need to do is a little homework - so that you can speak confidently and accurately about the subject. That’s what our web site is for. It’s your resource – so please use it and refer other paddlers to it: coldwatersafety.org. It’s a unique site with a lot of safety information that you won’t find anywhere else on the web. Please take time to understand the five Golden Rules we’ve developed – each one is there for a very good reason - and also read the Case Histories with their Lessons Learned (there are 19 as of this posting). Then share what you’ve learned with others. You don’t have to be an expert to promote cold water safety - our web site is there to back you up, and you can also refer questions to us.
