Be careful who you buy from on here! We bought a puppy about a - TopicsExpress

Be careful who you buy from on here! We bought a puppy about a month ago, and he had really soft stool. A couple days later it turned into diarrhea, so we changed him over to breed specific puppy chow to see if it helped. We took about three days to ween him off the other by mixing a little more of the other food each feeding. It didnt help. So about 9 days after we got him, he still had diarrhea. It would act like it was going to get better, then get worse again. Then about two weeks after we got him, he would throw up after he would eat. Only just the food. So we figured he ate too much, too fast. We continued to watch him. Then he started throwing up yellow, and white mucus looking stuff. We took him to the vet, and the vet tested him for parvo and it came back negative. So he put him on antibiotics. They didnt help. It got worse by the day. He would throw up numerous times every hour or after every time he ate, whichever came first. When he was finished with his round of antibiotics, his vomit had hints of blood in it. And his diarrhea did too. He wouldnt even act like a puppy anymore. He would just lay around, and sleep. He would get up the use restroom and throw up and start all over. He wouldnt eat or drink. He rapidly lost all the weight that we put on him. We called our vet, and he wanted the shot records before he saw him so he would know what was given to him and what hasnt been. So he wouldnt have to start all over on his shots. We looked in our paperwork from the lady we bought him from, and there wasnt any record. Which was unusual since he is akc papered, almost every breeder sends at least labels of the shots and wormers. So i text the lady we got him from, asking for the records. She said they gave them to him themselves. Which was fine, but when I asked for the records of them then she said she didnt keep them because It had never been a problem before. She told us they had done shots twice, and a wormer. But didnt tell us what kind. When this puppy was due for shots anyways, now our vet had to start completely over, just to play it safe. That didnt bother us as much as what we found out on that visit. With all the symptoms going on with our puppy, and it slowly getting worse, he said that this puppy had to have, what he is treating as gastroenteritis, even before we got him. He said that there was no way that a pup just catches this. Its a problem that just slowly gets worse. Now our poor puppy is on over 109$ worth of medicine. If that doesnt clear it up, then he has to go get on more medicine to try to get him back to 100% health. Im not throwing names out, but please just be careful when buying a puppy on here. Free, rehoming fee, buying, anything. You dont know who youre getting from. Dont trust anyones word!
