Be smart. Resisting arrest can or will get you killed. I know a lot of you are tough enough to fight, but are you strong enough to control your temper and survive? Not every cop is a racist. Not every person of color is a criminal. Still these stereotypes cause death wherever they are allowed to go unchecked. There is no WAR ON COPS as the newspaper suggests and some may feel, at least, not yet. But there is a feeling of rage whenever a cop is caught on tape allegedly breaking the same law hes sworn to protect. Im not going to comment about the chokehold used against Eric Garner, but I will argue that he and millions of others wouldnt be targeted by police, if they werent already in an economic chokehold, which forces people to sometimes make desperate decisions. A long standing problem in NY is that cops patrol communities that they dont live in, so they cant understand and or empathize with The Struggle that many of us know and deal with. They say to themselves, How can these people live like this? We say to ourselves, How long God do I have to put up with this @#$%? Meanwhile, they put their lives on the line and get paid to do so. To get paid, we put our lives on the line as well, even to sell loose cigarettes and tragically get killed. Not all crimes are punishable by death, but all life that has been taken by another mans hands, is. Most lives can be saved if we carefully decide what to stand up for and when to walk away and that goes for Police Officers as well.
