Be warned, this update boarders on a short essay or to some a long novel, but then I had to do that to let people know what the day entailed. :) Well today was productive to a point and a pain to another. I got up at a respectable hour, just after 8 am, had coffee, sorted a couple of things here then by 9.30 to 10.00 was on the road towards Bendigo to get the stuff I needed to make living that bit more comfortable. I got fuel on the way into town then had to stop and do the phone google search for bunnings so I could try and get what I wanted. Finally got to bunnings at around 11.30 and after speaking to one of the workers, found out that they didnt have a fire fighters pump any where near powerful enough to do what I wanted which is pump water from the concrete tank at the house to the header tank up the hill, so I have pressure in the taps. Found out that the place I needed to be was on the other side of town and they were closing in less than 25 mins. Mad rush to get there and made it with about 1.5 minutes to spare. Got the fire fighters pump but not the right fittings so I am still unable to get the water up the hill. Not that that will be a issue for long, just need a couple of extra fittings. Then on the way back to bunnings I came by a big Home Hardware store and decided to check there for the chainsaw and brush cutter. I wanted to get the Stihl farm boss as I know them to be a reliable chainsaw that lasts for ever if you look after them. In the end I got a Makita chainsaw and a Stihl brushcutter as well as a couple of other things that I need. On the way home I even managed to call in on the Bendigo branches meeting of the Prospectors and Miners Association of Victoria. Was good to catch up with the crew again. Raced home so I would be back in time for the gas to arrive. It turns out that my gas man is also the local country fire chief so am putting my name down for there too. I found out that the old fridge in the kitchen is a gas fridge as well as electric and 12 volt so that is good, Ill use it for now once I get it connected. Tried fitting the water pump and found out that I had the wrong connections, then put the chainsaw together so I could cut wood only to find that it wont start. Brand new chainsaw that wont go after trying to get it running for over a hour. Not happy with that so will be returning that one pronto and chasing up the farm boss instead as I had intended. I did end up scrounging some wood from around the place so I still have a fire tonight but that isnt the point. A new saw should start easily and this one doesnt. Dinner was cooked on the top of the firebox and now Im finishing filling you lot in. Tomorrow I hope to do a run and get half the gear from the other trailer if it suits the guy where it is being kept so that on Monday I can return the hire trailer and continue over to get mine and the rest of my gear back here. Thats about it for now. :)
