Beach Chick Willow 3 hrs · Edited ALERT - Your debit/credit card is NO LONGER safe inside a store. My card was skimmed at the Murphys on Tamiami on the inside (on the counter) credit card scanner. I called my bank and filed a report and I have a call into the police department. I called Murphys corporate as a courtesy to advise them and the customer service rep could have cared less so I plan on making a visit to the location as I want the employees (who are awesome) to know. I called the corporate office of Food4Less aka KROGER in Chicago (where my card was used twice in an hr and 19 mins) as a courtesy also and the customer service (mind you fraud division) rep was let me try and put this nicely - as worthless as ____ on a bull. The less than helpful fraud rep at Kroger told me I had NO RIGHT to know how my stolen money had been spent. I explained to her that it was her companys responsibility to make sure that my card was not used - especially given I do not sign my cards and the signature line states clearly ASK FOR ID and that given your company did not train your employees to do that then YOUR company is responsibile for MY TIME and INCONVENIENCE. One can only imagine the absolute surprise in her voice when I told her that. I then advised her that someone was going to tell me what these thieves bought and how they bought it (credit or debit) and if she could not then just send me right on up that chain of command. All of a sudden lil miss fraud rep, wrote it up gave me a case number and told me it takes 24 hrs from the time of purchase to get the documents (those documents she previously said I had no right to ). I have it set to call lil miss fraud rep back at exactly 4:39pm today. IMO no matter how much any store clerk hates it they should have to take credit/debit cards in their hand along with the persons ID and run it on their cash register that they and the store are in control of because it is quite obvious that they are not in control of the card sliders on their gas pumps or counters.
