However, many of us still consume 1% or 2% milk rather than nonfat. Keep in mind that “whole” milk has only 3.25% to 3.5% fat content, so slimming down to 2% doesn’t affect your calorie intake significantly. Nonfat milk tastes better now than it did when you were a kid, thanks to the addition of a small amount of dietary fiber that makes the milk look and taste more like 2%, but without the calories. 🐮Even if you don’t have a glass of milk with breakfast or lunch, think about all the places where milk or milk products slip into your calorie intake – from breakfast cereal to coffee drinks, to shredded cheese on your salad, pasta or Mexican food. 🐮You could decrease your daily intake by 100 calories by switching from whole to skim. And you can cut as many as 35 calories a day by just coming down a notch from 2% to skim. 🐮If this seems like too much to ask, then consider combining half whole milk and half reduced-fat or skim for a few weeks to transition.
