Topic: Don’t Doubt God Text: James 1:6-8 Memory Verse: And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high. Luke 24:49. Doubters insist that they need faith as big as a mountain in order to move a mustard seed but every step toward Christ kills a doubt. Every thought, word, and deed for Him carries you away from discouragement. This is always true. If we find a man who takes hold of the promises of God with firmness; who feels the deepest assurance when he prays that God will hear prayer; who always goes to God without hesitation in his perplexities and trials, never wavering, we shall find one who is firm in his principles, steady in his integrity, settled in his determinations, and steadfast in his plans of life. Such man whose character we shall feel that we understand, and in whom we can confide. The energy of the Holy Ghost is to communicate to you that He might be in you, a sanctifying comforter, fortifying your soul and bringing to your remembrance whatever Jesus had spoken. The energy of the Holy Ghost is to communicate to you that your preaching might be accompanied by His demonstration and power to the hearts of your hearers, so that they might believe and be saved. The energy of the Holy Ghost is to communicate to you that you might be able to work miracles and to establish the truth of the doctrines you preached. Holy Spirit will give to you power to overcome doubt and to hold on to God’s promises. Ask God for power and wait for it. KEY POINT: LEARN THAT WHILST MENS MINDS ARE DIVIDED BETWEEN GOD AND THEIR LUSTS, THEY MUST NECESSARILY LEAD VERY ANXIOUS, UNCERTAIN, AND UNSTABLE LIVES, ALWAYS FLUCTUATING IN GREAT ANXIETY AND UNCERTAINTY; FOR HE IS ALWAYS AT ODDS WITH HIMSELF. LEARN TO TRUST ON GOD.
