Beautiful! Shows how a teacher can make a difference in the life of a student, even though people, including the students own family, had written off the students chances of learning. Annie Sullivan, had she been in a public school setting and observed by someone with no training in this specialty, could have gotten written up for how she was teaching Helen. And, without tenure, she could have been fired on the spot if someone, oh, like a politician perhaps, got wind of the fact that she was teaching a child considered to be dumb. Some corporate big wig would think she was wasting resources and was an ineffective teacher. Let teachers teach and let us reach our students!!
