Because Im taking more of a stance on the issue of Spring Arbor - TopicsExpress

Because Im taking more of a stance on the issue of Spring Arbor applying for and being granted a Title IX exemption I want to be sure I clarify my position. Probably more for me to be sure I know what Im standing for than for anything else. So here are some things I dont think: I dont think you should not go to Spring Arbor University I dont think Spring Arbor University has everything wrong I dont think Spring Arbor University should be denied some ability to build a culture that is conducive to learning through a christian perspective. Here are some things I do think: I do think that in a cultural atmosphere where christian groups are known for their attacks on the LGBT community, regardless of any moral questions, it was a poor choice to apply for the ability to eject those individuals with no fear of legal ramifications. I do think that if a person in the GBTL community wants to attend a christian university that is a great thing regardless of any moral questions. I do think that a christian university (emphasize the christian) should be an open and SAFE (I love the acronym of SAU Alumni for Equality) environment to have a conversation about how Christians should engage the BTLG community whether they are in it themselves or a friend of someone who is. I do think that pulling themselves further away from the issue by seeking the legal right to deny someone in the TLGB community was a mistake and has made them now face this issue in a real and in some ways damning manner. Ultimately my perspective is that having a code of conduct for those that attend the university is perfectly fine. These would be restrictions on an action. Where I draw the line is when you begin placing restrictions on a type or group of persons. #SAUdiscriminates
