Because he never learned how to make it. It was a prize for making another potion well, and I believe they said it took over a year to make. Plus he did use both halves of the potion to lay the groundwork for the fight. Half to get the info on how to kill him via horcrux and half to his friends to enable them to survive an attack on Hogwarts, which in turn led to them being able to provide critical help in the destruction of the horcruxes. So yeah... he kinda did use it wisely. But #24 on this list is hillarious.
