Because the members of the PFU page digs the archival images, Im going to steer you in the direction of the most prime magazine articles written about the Funk Mob. The quality of each article is balanced out between well written texts and stooopid photos: Sepia magazine-June 1970-the very first article done on Funkadelic for a nationally distributed magazine. Great studio and live pics. Creem magazine-October 1970-Same as the Sepia article in terms of pictures, accompanied by a great write up. Blues and Soul magazine-September/October 1974 Creem magazine-April 1977-Beautiful color shots and an equally great article. Sepia magazine-August 1978-Same as Creem. Black Music/Jazz Review-August 1978/February 1979-Superb text and photos. Musician magazine-?? 1979-One of the most intelligent articles ever written on the Funk Mob. Blues and Soul-April 1981-One of the first (if not THE first) magazines to devote an entire issue to P-Funk. For that matter, any issue of B&S that had P-Funk on the cover is worth seeking out. Any issue of Rock & Soul magazine between 1977 and 1980. Not big on text, but the photos (particularly the inside front and back covers) are killer! Wax Poetics-September 2006-Perhaps the most ambitious single magazine issue ever to deal with the history of Parliament-Funkadelic. A few errors, but overall a total delight for any true Funkateer. If anyone knows of any other publications with substantial articles on P-Funk, please list them here.
