Becoming A Woman of Excellence Sisters, this presses on my heart today. We are called to excel! We could define becoming a woman of excellence in this way: A woman who loves God and others, wholeheartedly, and is open to His work in her life as well as His instructions, thereby experiencing Gods transforming power. This produces good fruit in her life and displays spiritual strength for her, through diligent study of His word, putting it into action, and maintaining a consistent prayer life. This is beautiful. I love the word: BECOMING. Gods work in us is BECOMING us... Here are some passages to help support this principle: Matthew 22:36-39, which says: “36 “Teacher, which is the most important commandment in the law of Moses?” [the Pharisees challenged Jesus] 37 Jesus replied, “‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’” [note] This passage encourages us to look at Gods commandments POSITIVELY. Jesus said that if we truly love God, we would naturally love our community around us. Love radiates. Caring is natural to us as women. Concern should be ours. This is a beautiful passage! ____ Next, Romans 12:2 here says: “Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.” [note] Worldly behavior, habits, popular trends and more are designed for the “ME”. Elevation of self can be seen with the current fashion styles, new cars, body art, extreme body care (like in eating habits tanning, or exercise for example) or even attaining “credentials” such as higher degrees, medals, a reputation that everyone knows. These in itself are not bad things and actually possibly could be used as blessings to others and our testimony to the world. However when the focus is taken off Jesus and put onto ourselves, that is where temptation and SELF comes out. Through Holy Spirits presence and work in us, we are renewed, transformed, refocused daily! ____ Now look at Colossians 1:10, “ Then the way you live will always honor and please the Lord, and your lives will produce every kind of good fruit. All the while, you will grow as you learn to know God better and better.” [note] Amen to this! Spiritual growth provides a deeper understanding of TRUTH and BEHAVIOR that pleases God. Through this we gain patience and are able to endure against evil that tries minute by minute to capture our thoughts, attitudes and actions. Knowledge of God is not a secret fraternity; it is open to all, shared by all, told to all. Doing this helps us grow! ____ And finally, we look at 2 Timothy 2:15, which says: “ Work hard so you can present yourself to God and receive his approval. Be a good worker, one who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly explains the word of truth.” [note] God Himself will see and examine our hearts, our work/fruit that we do for Him. Therefore we should BUILD our lives – not on American values as a priority – but on HIS WORD. It alone tells us how to live, how to serve Him, and how to share His truth and love to others. Consistent study of the Bible is vital to our true purpose for being here on earth, as is putting that study into action. I pray that these scriptures bless you today! We have a very important, blessed role here on earth that God has designed us for. Embrace it. Embrace your sisters unique self and recognize that we all have our own unique gifts to contribute while we are alive. Have a wonderful day!
