[Bedroom Hajj Diary Part 2] Today marks the 8th of Dhul Hijjah, - TopicsExpress

[Bedroom Hajj Diary Part 2] Today marks the 8th of Dhul Hijjah, officially the first day of the Hajj pilgrimage and known as Yaum at-Tarwiyah. The word tarwiyah is derived from the Arabic verb irtawaa which is drink to ones full in quenching the thirst. Named as such due to the hujjaj having to drink their fill of water before departing Makkah for Mina due to the lack of water and wells in Mina at the time. The rites of this day (for those doing Tamattu Hajj) include: 1. Make ghusl, trim fingernails and unwanted hair and adopt the ihram proclaiming the intention with Labbayk Allahumma Hajjan. Set off at Dhuha time (late morning) and aim to reach Mina by noon. 2. The day and night are spent in Mina settling into the tents, praying all prayers on time while shortening the Dhuhr, Asr and Isha to two rakahs but not combining any. Departure for Arafah after sunrise the next morning. 3. Reciting the talbiyyah (labbayk Allahumma labbayk as per the Sunnah, not labbayk ya hussain) loudly after adopting ihram, on the way to Mina and while in Mina. The video shows us leaving the Aziziyah district in Makkah on the morning of 8th Dhul Hijjah headed for Mina, the coach trip there, praying Dhuhr upon arrival, a short reminder by Sheikh Haitham Al-Haddad about the importance of repentance and remembrance of Allah especially in the days of Hajj, salah led by Qari عمر محمد القاسم Umar Muhammad Al-Qasim (from Bradford can you believe ;-)) and then getting a bite to eat. Stay tuned tomorrow for another entry as the most crucial day of the pilgrimage, the day of Arafah arrives.
