Been asked a few times as of late about the Women of Gaming section on my website and how I havent added any feature articles to it since late summer, and if that had anything to do with #GamerGate. No. You could use an egg timer to clock the amount of time that I was concerned about what that might mean for the types of articles I write. The lack of additional features has far more to do with the fact that writing has not been my main focus or priority for some time now, especially through the second half of the year where I was pursuing other things. Writing became something I do on an as time allows basis for quite some time now. For those newer to me, in 2011 I produced a Women Gamers Week series after I noted a womens team get snubbed by the press at a competitive event that year. The idea was for me to feature women in the gaming world without having to focus on the fact that they were women or acting surprised that they exist. The series proved popular, with 111,000+ unique visitors that week. I also came away from it with some dear friendships. I decided Id continue to produce similar features from time to time. At times, Ive received hate mail for doing so, but oh well. Ive been strongly considering doing a full on Women Gamers Week series again to re-emphasize the regular series and have been actively working to land a major name from the world of entertainment to be the lead-in feature. Still some hoops to jump through there, which is why it hasnt taken place yet. That said, Im likely moving forward on this regardless of if I can finalize a sit-down with that person, especially since Im beginning to be asked more and more. That said, people... who would you like to see featured?
