Been mulling over this for a few days and here are my thoughts.... Someone once told me that all of the problems with our government stem from mans love of money. My house rep says that resigning his seat before he even serves one day of his term, to take a job lobbying for the treasurers office to the ncga (on taxpayer dime), makes sense because hes done as much as he can do in the NCGA. Well yes, that makes sense for one who perceives that their goal within the NCGA was simply to rise among the ranks - in that case, I would say he did as much as he could hope to accomplish there. However, for someone who views their role among the ncga as representing the people of his area and bringing about a free state, it is obvious that there is much, much more to be accomplished. Simply stating this better opportunity came along - what a weak explanation to leave to ones constituents who find themselves with their representation now being CHOSEN FOR THEM. Thanks a lot!! Now lets talk about this new job. During the last session, corrupt Democrat Janet Cowell attempted to get a law passed that would close off transparency over the treasurers actions for a period of time in which the statute of limitations on criminal activity would EXPIRE before anyone could have access to what she has done with the pension money. Let me say that again - she wanted to make it a law that no one could have knowledge of her pension activities until after she could no longer be held criminally liable for her actions. Well that bill didnt pass, though it WAS CLOSE to passing. Enough in there recognized that we need transparency and accountability sooner rather than later, though they were not able to then go and pass substantial transparency reforms. Leaving it all for THIS body of representatives to consider. And Starnes, last years MAJORITY LEADER, has now taken a triple pay increase to go and be an advocate for HER OFFICE to the NCGA, where he has many friends. As a side note, Marilyn Starnes is to run to replace her husband in the NCGA. Many of you might also be familiar with the extensive reporting that I have done about the treasurers office and millions from the pension fund that have gone to Thom Tillis super PAC contributors. It is all painting a very ugly picture - wish that Starnes would give some better explanation about what is happening here because I do not like how this looks!!!!!
