Been to Ferry Reach lately? Perhaps its time to take another look... We took a poke around this week... and highly suggest a visit. As you drive up, youll notice the two storey house commonly called Ferry Point Cottage. It is either a barrack constructed in 1781, or a considerable expansion of the last of a series of ferry keepers houses dating back to the earliest days of the colony. During the American Revolution, the house was turned into quarters for some of the garrison troops then lodging in town. This rather plain building is dug into the side of a hill and has a massive chimney on its north side, no doubt used by the soldiers to prepare their meals. (info Bermudas Architectural Series)
