Been to see 2 very different shows today. First up was In the Heights at the Southwark Playhouse. Didnt know what to expect as had booked on impulse but I have to say it was brilliant. Great story, brilliant singing and some fabulous choreography. The combination of classic musical style with the hip hop influence made the show seem fresh & exciting. Plus the setting at the Southwark is so intimate you really feel part of the action. From the front row I just wanted to get up and join in with them! Next up was 1984 and after reading the book many years ago I knew what to expect but was very impressed with their retelling of a classic. Staging was excellent and I felt thoroughly gripped right from the beginning. The Room 101 scene was even making me squirm (ew rats!!) Anyone else been to see either production?
