*Before I begin my open letter let me just say I in no way support the killing of those two innocent cops and may Officer Rafael Ramos and Officer Wenjian Liu SIP* With that being said let me break it down to some of you who seem to have it all the way confused. This has been heavy on my heart since yesterday and after this post I might not ever tackle this issue again and might lose a few fb friends but if just one person on my TL gets it the. That will be worth it. The people are NOT ANTI-COPS, I repeat we are not ANTI-COPS, we are ANTI-ABUSE OF FORCE & ANTI RACIAL PROFILING. We are tired of BAD cops going unpunished for crimes they commit on and off camera. We just want them to be judged by the same law they are sworn to uphold. What is so effin hard to understand???????? Let me use an example that will maybe help cops understand.... I have came in contact with teachers that did a bad job teaching, they lack the patience and drive to deal with young kids and therefore are labeled bad teachers, does that mean I hate all teachers or that teachers serve no purpose? The answer is a resounding NO. What it does mean is that the BAD teachers need to be held accountable for their actions and the remaining teachers need to take note and get back to doing the job they are paid to do and correctly at that. Same applies to law enforcement. Im tired of the police feeling that if they stand up against police brutality and the wrongdoings in the department that it means they are turning their backs on their brothers in blue. Wrong is wrong and right is right and before you are a cop you are HUMAN first. You do NOT bleed blue. You bleed the same color that we all bleed. An injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. The Mayor didnt say all cops were abusing their power. He came forward on a problem that is spreading in this country and being the Mayor and also the father of A BLACK BOY it was his responsibility to do so. All this blaming of Sharpton, the Mayor, Holder and even Obama is laughable at best. You really think they incited the killings of these two cops? You really think this young man was driven to commit these heinous crimes because of the above people speaking out on a problem that has been going on in this country for years???? This is the problem with law enforcement, they back each other right or wrong and mostly because of the back lash they will receive from fellow officers if they speak out about wrong doings they remain quiet. Well since you want to support your fellow officers no matter what do not get mad when people start discussing law enforcement as a whole and start grouping you together ( although I dont subscribe to such). The people have spoken, we do not feel safe for our sons, fathers, brothers, husbands, boyfriends etc. Im sorry if that line hurts or offends law enforcement but read it again, 3x if you have too. We do not feel safe!!! That is a horrible feeling to have, its not a good thing that when your loved one has to leave the house you have to pray that not only that they are protected from the bandits but that the bandits arent in uniform!!!! If reading that as an officer makes you feel uncomfortable then Im glad as it should as you have a responsibility as a good cop to recognize and come to terms that your fellow brothers and sisters are making a bad name for you. Get mad, say something, do something. Dont just stand there and repeat to me some pre programmed mess that was told to you. I swear law enforcement act as if they are no longer human and cant differentiate between wrong and right. As if one isnt capable to be a cop and yet recognize that there is plenty wrongdoing within smh The president of the PBA ( correct me if Im wrong) was saying they will get through the funeral and deal with those responsible or something Along those lines...... Im sorry but the one responsible is dead, gone, finished,no more , I need for him or someone with direct knowledge to explain to me who exactly they are going to deal with and how. At a time when tension is already high between cops and civilians Im going to need for them to choose their words CAREFULLY!!! Eric Garners last words on this earth before he was killed by AN ILLEGAL chokehold ( miss me with that he was in bad health shit) was I cant breathe and that phrase was printed on thousands of t shirts not as anti -cops but as anti excessive force and support of the Gardner family and for the Nypd to turn around and print and wear a shirt that says I can breathe is an immediate smack in the face to the family. Yes officers we are happy that you can still breathe and thank goodness that nobody had you in a chokehold while pleading for your life. I wish Gardner was still alive to wear his I can breathe shirt but unfortunately he is not. In more petty news lets look at the petition going around calling for the Mayor to lose his job and the video going around of the officers turning their back on the mayor all I can do is SMDH. If that isnt the most petty and ridiculous move ever. These police officers are acting like children. Its exactly this kind of indignant attitude that we dont want or need on the police force. If this is how much respect they show the mayor (who had nothing to do with the tragic shootings yesterday despite popular Nypd belief) then how much respect do you think they have for the average citizen on the street and please dont tell me that if we all just follow the laws then none of this would be happening because if you do believe that then I have a bridge to sell you that connects Brooklyn to Manhattan.... To the good cops out there that continue to do their job Correctly we thank you, we salute you and we hope that you make it back home to your families after every shift. Please speak to your partners and fellow brothers and sisters in blue that are oblivious to what is going on. If we cant get through to them then maybe you can. I will continue to raise my black son to be a law abiding citizen but you have to do your job as well.
