Before I get too wordy, I want to say that Im so, very grateful for YOU ... Lately, I havent been feelin all that up. Then, I take a peek at FB, and someone has posted a beautiful list of what and who theyre grateful for; a breathtaking photo, be it an out-of-this-world shot or a happy family scene; a Spiritual passage or a quote that not only causes you to pause and think about something or someone outside of yourself but also quickly draws out a chuckle or -- better yet -- a full-blown LOL In my book, this is what makes FB a treasure. (FYI, Mark Zuckerberg is not paying me a penny to post this, and I dont care what the Grammar Nazis say ... I like the word very Last week, I especially needed to find some treasure, as I had been in the process of getting even more and more lost in dark thoughts. Why? Why? Why? Life is goofy that way ... We can be beeboppin along, dancing and singing regardless of whos watching, then negative thoughts/energy (most of it trivial, some of it S.A.D., some of it LIFE) finds a crack in our spirits, and continues to drip, drip, drip. Before we know it, weve taken a wrong turn and a yucky film forms over our eyes and souls. I spend too much time in my head during these times -- poking and prodding at the past, overturning rocks in the pursuit of meaning, instead finding rotting leaves and bugs. I convince myself that Im walking alone, but I KNOW thats not true. Its my mind -- some say Ego -- working overtime. Its definitely up to no good. Perhaps, its good every now and then to take a walk down a dark path into the shadowlands, to remind ourselves why we dont want to live there -- in fact, why we just need to get the hell out of there FOR GOOD ... so that we can better appreciate the sunny side of the road (even if the real sun isnt shining much). ... So that we can KNOW what it means to live in the present: to reconnect w/a dear friend and passionately vent and ponder lifes questions; to celebrate the upcoming marriage of the daughter of golden friends, in their lovely Monet-style garden; and, to spontaneously take off on a kayak adventure -- even embracing The Battle of the Reeds -- with some pretty cool nature gals. Im glad to be reminded of one of my VERY favorite Van Morrison songs: On the Bright Side of the Road. Once again -- THANK GOD & YOU -- I feel like beeboppin ... youtu.be/pvS2OtG2SHc
