Before ever engaging in any type of demonstration one must ask oneself who one is pleading to, and what ones concrete aims are (if there are any). Protests often equate to little more than pleading to those we claim to be at odds with to change. Many times the powers that be WANT people to protest, or even riot, for it actually helps to draw attention away from what originally incited the protests to begin with, providing an excuse to seize more control over peoples lives. Answers to complex issues are not easy to come by, but inaction is always a wiser choice than action founded on little or no thought. By now it should be apparent that the media does not serve the public at large. It is more often a tool of manipulation than one of information. Thus, to arrive at answers weve yet to find, we must be willing to resist and dig beyond our most predictable reactions.
