Before my fellow San Francisco Bay Areans say yes to the Olympics, - TopicsExpress

Before my fellow San Francisco Bay Areans say yes to the Olympics, I want you to imagine something. Imagine the Super Bowl, but everyday -- for 3 weeks -- and concurrently at Levis Stadium, AT&T Park, SAP Center, Avaya Stadium, Stanford Stadium, O.co, Oracle Arena, the new Warriors joint, Memorial Stadium, and a bunch of other places. 101 is already a bottleneck -- and doesnt clear until lunch time sometimes. It takes 30 minutes just to get through the Skyway on 80 SF on your way to the Bay Bridge. 280 is a crawl in the South Bay during the morning commute. Do you even want to talk about 880 through Fremont? San Jose? Oakland? We dont even have a dependable subway network. BART stops in Fremont and Daly City and the Caltrain is deplorable as far as convenience and dependability. Oh, and we have transplants who couldnt tell you where Silicon Valley really began (Answer: Kifer Road, Santa Clara. Those empty warehouses is where this Valley really began, not Sand Hill Road and certainly not SoMa). So no, I dont want the Olympics here. Let some other country or city take it, bear the burden of cost, and the headache of 3 weeks of traffic. This region is already being soiled enough. The IOC and USOC dont need to further that. nytimes/2015/01/06/sports/in-us-boston-los-angeles-washington-and-san-francisco-vie-for-2024-olympic-bid.html?_r=0
