Before signing your child up with an ABA agency/organization, you - TopicsExpress

Before signing your child up with an ABA agency/organization, you should consider asking these questions… o How many years have the therapists, supervisors been working with children with Autism? - Even if they have their degrees in the field. Ideally you want someone who has the experience and the degree; unfortunately, these days, it is rare to find someone who has both the degree and hands on experiences. o How many cases do your child’s supervisor have? It’s common sense that, the move kid the supervisor has the less hours he/she will have to spend on your child’s case. o How many cases have that office (THAT PARTICULAR OFFICE, not the agency/organization as a whole) office has helps remove the child’s diagnose or recover the child? Unless the same group of people is working at all the offices, the chances are all the offices do not provide the same quality of treatments. o What is the quality of parent training? DON’T expect others to recover your kid because the truth is… you spend the most time with your kid and you DO play a big role! The more ABA you know, the more you can teach your child and help your child succeed. After all, therapists will come and go, but you will still be with your child. o Ask the agency if they can help meet the goal you set for your child. Not the goal they set but the goal you set for your child. No one knows your child better than you do! Evaluate your goals monthly, every 6 months, every year to see your child’s progress. If there isn’t much progress, you might want to consider a different agency/organization.
